Did
you know Members can get up to one year's membership at no charge during
the Member-Get-A-Member promotion?
The Member-Get-A-Member
promotion runs for a full three months starting October 1, 2009 and runs
through the end of the year. The basic premise is that members who recruit
new professional members will get three free months of membership for each new
member they bring in...up to a full year at no charge (complete rules below).
Just four rules:
1. The
new member must identify the referring member in one of the following ways:
2. The
new member must not have been an IABC member since 1 October 2008.
3. The
limit for this promotion is four members, which would provide the referring
member with a full year of membership at no charge.
4. The
new member must be a professional member (not a student member), although
recruiting members can be any type.

IABC
has a variety of membership options to fit your needs:
Making membership
affordable
In uncertain times like
these, your professional network is more valuable than ever. But when money is
tight, any opportunity to save can come in handy. Here are some ways you can
make your IABC dues more affordable.

Members can pay their
membership dues over four monthly installments. Although there is a US$20
convenience fee (also divided over four months), the payment plan allows you to
spread out the cash outlay.

You may not be working in
the communication profession anymore, but we feel you still have a lot to add
to the community. We offer a special, significantly reduced rate to our retired
members.

Student memberships offer
all of the benefits of professional membership (with the exception of the July/August
issue of CW) at a greatly reduced rate. They are available to full-time
students of colleges, universities and other educational institutions as well
as part-time students working toward a degree, or a certificate program in
Canada, who are not presently working in the communication profession. Details
can be found here under the "Student" section.

Is it your first year in
the profession after graduating from college? If so, you are eligible for a
transitional membership. The dues are half of the professional international
dues plus full chapter and regional dues. For some, this yields more than
US$100 in savings.

Corporate
packages
If you are part of a
company with five or more communicators anywhere in the world, then grouping
your memberships together can yield dues discounts of 5 to 10%, depending on the
size of your group. Different cost centers? No problem; we will work with you to
make it happen. Currently active memberships with different expiration dates?
No problem. We will pro-rate the membership you've already paid for.

Members who are experiencing financial difficulties because of a job layoff or other significant event should send an e-mail to member_relations@iabc.com. Depending on membership longevity and circumstances, extensions of 2 to 6 months are often granted. Your request will be handled in confidence.
